Those who shun the fuss and muss of the kitchen have numerous opportunities to enjoy a fulfilling vegan Thanksgiving in the Southern California area. Below are listings that offer varied choices for dining in, dining out, or participating in a unique and traditional vegan Thanksgiving potluck.

Once a year hundreds of vegans gather together at Rancho Park in West Los Angeles for a compassionate vegan Thanksgiving potluck picnic.
Celebrants come from far and wide to participate in the longest running once-a-year vegan tradition in Los Angeles. Historically attendees number from 150 on the low side to 450 on the high side.
This event is a community run event, and is free to anyone in the community who wants to spend a Thanksgiving together where all truly have reason to give thanks, including the animals that are not being eaten here. It is a casual, fun, and meaningful afternoon in the park, which has historically had beautiful weather, (but, in the event of rain, those who still want to gather will do so in the rain).
Featured are literature tables, and an open mike. Attendees are encouraged to bring musical instruments, as well as balls, frisbees, and other games to play in the spacious open park setting. Well-behaved dogs on leash are welcome.
While this is a free event, attendees should bring a vegan dish to share, (to serve at least eight), with a card stating the ingredients of the creation, (especially for those with food allergies about which they need to be conscious). Also, it is important that attendees bring any serving utensils needed for their dishes, as well as washable/reusable plates, cups, napkins and utensils for personal usage.

Again, bring your favorite vegan holiday dish to serve 8 to10 people. Please include a note listing the ingredients, and be sure to bring a serving utensil.
Be ecological and take along your own place setting, including a reusable cup, bowl, plate, utensils, and washable cloth napkin.
Bring musical instruments to play, frisbees to toss, and balls to chase..
Fun for the whole family--all ages welcome.
No RSVP necessary--just come and enjoy a Thanksgiving where all are truly able to be thankful!
Food items should be strictly vegan, having no animal ingredients: no meat, (which includes no chicken or fish), no dairy, no eggs, no honey, no bone-processed sugar, and no alcohol.
This is also a smoke-free event.
Directions: Located about 2 miles North of 10 Freeway and about 2 miles East of 405 Freeway. From 10 Freeway, exit on Overland Ave. Go North about a mile to Pico. Go East on Pico for about a mile to Motor. Turn right and follow the "VEG" signs to the gathering location. Or take Pico Boulevard East of the 405 to make a right, south on Motor, enter the first parking lot on the right, all the way back -- we set-up at the picnic tables back across the grass.
Gather with fellow veg pilgrims and our feathered guests of honor (the sanctuary turkeys!) to help spread the message of compassion for ALL.
The festivities will start at noon with farm tours of the sanctuary and time to meet the sanctuary cows, pigs, chickens, and other animals, while hearing about their heartwarming rescue stories. At 1:30 p.m. we will gather for our "Feed the Turkey" Ceremony where it's the turkeys turn to enjoy salad, pumpkin pie and stuffed squash!
After our feathered friends are full and happy, the rest of us will enjoy a mouth-watering vegan Thanksgiving dinner provided by One World Vegetarian Cuisine and Cobblermania.
The menu includes One World's famous "veggie turkey"and classic stuffing, mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy, hearty autumn vegetables, orange cranberry sauce, and holiday pie by Cobblermania.
After dinner, guests will enjoy a special presentation by vegan advocate Philip Steir, author of the new Vegan Sanctuary blog.

Join us at Madeleine Bistro to celebrate Thanksgiving Day with our bird friends from Animal Acres! We will be open for brunch on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, 2009, from 10 am to 3 p.m.
We will be offering our regular brunch menu as well as a traditional Thanksgiving prix-fixe.
And Animal Acres will be bringing one of their turkey friends to celebrate with you and your family. We hope to see many familiar faces as we celebrate the lives you will save by enjoying a vegan Thanksgiving.

Madeleine Bistro - Organic Vegan Cuisine
A cafe inside a health food market, this landmark vegetarian restaurant will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Their all-vegan Thanksgiving dinner will be served on Tuesday, November 24 between 4:00 and 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday, November 25 between 12 noon and 10:00 p.m.
We do not accept reservations, but we do accept pre-orders for to-go orders and you can call and reserve heat-and-eat items.
Take-out orders should be placed 48 hours ahead.
